Federation Open Meeting: Still time to get tickets

TICKETS are still available for the Essex Police Federation Open Meeting, where officers will have the chance to quiz the new Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh on his plans.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 8 May at the Anglia Ruskin University.

Mark Smith, chairman of Essex Police Federation, said the meeting would offer a great chance to hear the new chief constable’s vision for the force.

As well as the new chief, members will also be able to put questions to the Essex police and crime commissioner Nick Alston.

The format of the meeting has changed slightly following feedback from last year.

Mr Smith will offer a short introduction, followed by a ten-minute introduction from Mr Kavanagh.

Mr Kavanagh, currently a deputy assistant commissioner at the Metropolitan Police Service, will replace Chief Constable Jim Barker-McCardle, on 3 May.

Mr Smith said: “We have a new chief and we look forward to listening to what his short and long term plans are for the force.

“It could be a new start for Essex. We need some stability to move forwards and make Essex the great force that it was.”

All federated members are invited to attend but need tickets, which are available in the Federation office for £5. Officers will receive a refund of £15 on the night, giving them £10 to spend on refreshments on the way home. There will be no food or bar provided this time.

You can either call in to the office yourself or contact a local rep to obtain a ticket. There are 400 tickets and when they have gone they have gone, the venue will not hold any more.

Those unable to attend the meeting will be able to follow it live on our Twitter account @essexpolicefed

They will also be able to read a full report following the event in EssexFedFocus.
