Essex women mark 100 years in policing
ESSEX Police has celebrated 100 years of female officers at the force by inviting 100 women for a special commemoration at headquarters in Chelmsford.
The Women’s Leadership and Development Forum (WLDF) organised a photo including 100 women of all ranks, including Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) Julia Wortley, and staff members.
The women met at the grounds of Essex Police College to mark this milestone in the force’s history.
Supt Cat Barrie, chair of the WLDF, said: “We were very keen to show how far women’s role in policing has moved on in the last 100 years.
“We asked women of all roles – officers and staff – to take part and celebrate the fantastic women we have at Essex Police.
“It is an incredible image and I wanted to capture a moment in time to represent women and acknowledge the efforts of those who have gone before us.
“These photos show the huge skill, commitment, professionalism and ability that women of every rank and role bring to Essex Police”.
