Police officers encouraged to become Federation Reps

POLICE officers who want to represent the best interests of their colleagues in Essex have been invited to put themselves forward for the upcoming Federation elections.

Every one of the 40 positions in the Federation is up for grabs in the vote in February, Steve Taylor, Chairman, has said. “It is vital that those charged with looking after the welfare of our staff are motivated, articulate, opinionated, informed and able to form strong relationships with the management.”

Steve added: “We would recommend anyone that thinks they want to get involved in joining the Federation, regardless of how much service they have or haven’t got, to put their name forward, to step up, and help us continue to modernise and change our Federation into a more reflective staff association, with positive, strong, challenging relations with the organisation, centred purely on improving the individual lot of our officers.”

Steve said given the economy and the environment in which police officers are working, it has never been more important that talented and committed people are there to look after rank and file police officers.

He added: “We ask officers to put themselves forward, come speak to us, take some advice from existing Fed reps, or just put your name on the ballot for the February elections and get yourself involved. The best way to change something is from the inside and that’s as good for the organisation as it is for the Federation itself.”
