Essex Police officers to the rescue
TWO Essex Police Officers have been congratulated after their quick thinking saved a distressed woman’s life.
PC Daryl Jones and PC Sam Williams were called to an incident in Southend after they received reports of a woman sitting in an unsafe location on a top-level car park.
As time went on, their concerns for the woman’s safety was increasing due to the strong winds, so accompanied by an Essex street ranger, the officers attempted to speak to the woman. Luckily, Sam managed to start up a conversation with the woman during this difficult situation.
Whilst Sam spoke with the woman, Daryl approached the woman from behind and pulled her safely away from the ledge, putting his own life at risk in the process.
Sam and Daryl looked after the woman until the Essex Mental Health Street Triage Team arrived. PC Daryl Jones from Southend Local Policing Team said: “It’s good to see a positive outcome from a situation like this.
“Helping people is what we do as police officers. Thankfully the woman is safe and receiving the help she needs.”
