Meet the new PFEW reps
THE Police Federation of England and Wales Representative elections have brought in nine fresh sets of eyes and nine potential sources for new ideas, the Chairman of Essex Police Federation has said.
Steve Taylor welcomed the new members to the board and also thanked the six officers who are no longer part of the Federation.
“Our thanks goes out to those reps for the time and effort they have put into representing our members but who have decided that their circumstances no longer support them continuing as a new Work Based Rep,” said Steve.
They are Ian Howitt, Carol Lione and Taks Shar from the old Sgt’s board and Gary Lane, Kelly Thurston and Emma Matthews from the old Inspector’s board.
The nine new reps welcomed are Karen Pownall, Dean Yarnall, Pat Wilks, James Howell, John Senior, Liz Somers, Charlie Cronin, Sophie Bacon and Lisa Cox.
Steve added: “At the same time as saying goodbye and thank you, most importantly, to those six that have decided not to go forward with us, we say hello to nine completely brand new reps.
“Nine fresh sets of eyes. Nine potential sources for new ideas and new impetus on things. So that’s a real positive from the election.
“We still have some vacancies and would encourage those that want to be a part of the new breed of Federation Reps to come forward and pick up the challenge with us.
“But we’re really excited by the fact that we’ve got nine, off the back of a recent bumper crop of brand new reps as well.
“So we’re almost 50% new or brand new reps, which I think is a real healthy place to be, because whilst we maintain some of our positive values and experience, we still have got a new regime of new Federation Reps to take it up and drive it forward.
The Federation now has 35 new Work Based Reps and three full timers in the office.
