Essex officers make dreams a reality for Ollie

THREE Essex Police officers have been thanked by the family of a 15-year-old boy after they made his dreams come true when they organised an action packed afternoon for him.

Earlier this year, PC Ashleigh Watkinson from the Operational Support Group (OSG) and a colleague were taking a break when they got chatting to a 15-year-old boy called Ollie.

Ollie is self-confessed the biggest fan of the TV show Police Interceptors, and the officers spent the rest of their break with him talking about the ins and outs of their job.

Before heading back out on patrol, PC Watkinson asked Ollie if he wanted to spend an afternoon at their base in Boreham to learn more.

PC Watkinson arranged for Ollie and his friend Tom, Mum Alison, and carer Joanna, to visit an Essex police base where an action packed afternoon was in store.

The group were joined by fellow OSG officer PC Rob Sansom and Dog Handler PC Adam Bowden who brought along his canine colleagues, PD Sirus and police puppy, Denzel.

The boys spent the afternoon flying a police drone, checking out the different vehicles in a fleet and watching the police dogs in action.

Ollie’s Mum, Allison, said: “What a wonderful day it was truly an experience that money could not buy. Ollie had such a great time and we would like to thank Ashleigh and the guys for going above and beyond the call of duty in making our very special boys’ day so very special. Thank you from us all.”
