Resident’s Letter Thanks ‘Brave’ Police

ESSEX Police have received a touching thank you note from a local elderly resident, showing her support for the force on behalf of the public.

PC Paul Walker unexpectedly received the letter when he arrived for his shift at Loughton Police station.

In the letter, the lady, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We, the general public really do appreciate all you do for us on a day-to-day basis! Thank you and God bless each one of you.”

Paul, who read the letter on behalf of the rest of his Essex colleagues, said: “It was a very kind donation and letter from a thoughtful resident.

“It makes me feel very humble to be thanked by a resident for our daily job of helping to keep people safe.”

Along with the letter, the lady enclosed £20 to be contributed to the ‘police fund’ and said that the money represented a small token of thanks “to all the brave policeman and women who keep us safe in our everyday life”.

The money will now be donated to the Essex Police Benevolent Fund, which supports officers going through difficult periods in their lives.

Any money donated to the force is split between four charities: the Police Convalescent Home (Flint House); Gurney Fund for Police Orphans; Police Dependants Trust; and Essex Police Benevolent Fund.
