Essex Police Federation launches Police Bravery Awards
ESSEX Police Federation are delighted to announce the launch of our very own Police Bravery Awards in 2020.
Highlighting fantastic acts of courage from colleagues across the county, the Awards are coming in April next year and will be one of the highlights of the policing calendar.
Steve Taylor, Chairman of Essex Police Federation, said: “Police officers run towards danger when others might run away. They run into burning buildings, they tackle armed offenders, they jump into water to save lives.
“We have dozens of brave incidents that colleagues up and down Essex undertake so very regularly. Not all of them always get recognised and we are looking at changing that.”
Bravery nominations will be sourced in conjunction with the force throughout 2019 – before a judging process takes place at the beginning of 2020 and – winning Essex Police officers will then be informed that they have won an Award.
All winners will be invited to attend a prestigious Awards event in early April 2020 at an Essex venue where the bravery will be highlighted and celebrated.
Steve added: “We are so looking forward to highlighting these outstanding acts.”
At the event, one overall winner will be announced and they will become the Essex Police nominee for The National Police Federation of England and Wales Bravery Awards in the Summer of 2020.

Thanks to all of our Sponsors for making the event possible – Motorola Solutions and Capita Secure Solutions and Services – and to our amazing colleagues, whose brave acts we are delighted to be able to showcase.
Much more to come over coming months!
