Commendations For Outstanding Essex Officers

A NUMBER of outstanding Essex Police officers have received commendations for their acts of bravery and their life-saving actions.

Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington commended the officers as he gave out the awards.

He said: “It brings me great pleasure to host these ceremonies to celebrate ordinary individuals taking extraordinary steps to help save the lives of others, protect the vulnerable, catch criminals and keep the people of Essex safe.

“It might be what our officers, staff and volunteers do on a daily basis but their actions are courageous and I take great pride in being able to award them.”

DC Beth Finch received a commendation for her work which helped convict four men for more than eight years for drug related offences.

PC James Shram and his colleagues were also recognised for pulling a woman to safety after they found her sitting on the edge of a multi storey car park.

Sgt Rebecca Lee and PC Larry Litchfield also received praise, along with a third colleague, for their quick thinking and bravery when they attended a road traffic collision.

A man had become trapped inside a car that was on fire, and the three officers risked their own safety to attempt to contain the blaze.

Unfortunately, despite their heroic and selfless actions, the victim sadly died.

Congratulations to all the officers on receiving their commendations.
