Chairman: Take Time To Recharge This Christmas
CHRISTMAS and New Year message from Essex Police Federation Chairman Steve Taylor:
“The importance of proper rest and relaxation during the festive period should not be underestimated. Unfortunately, a break is not afforded to everyone, and many of our members have to work particularly anti-social shifts at the most social time of the year.
“It is part of what we do. But that means it is all the more important that you have those opportunities for rest and relaxation when you can and you try and enjoy time with friends, family and loved ones at home in settings of your own choice rather than where your duties take you. And that you try and make the most of the festive season.
“We hope that you are able to look after one another when you are at work, that you remember when you’re not at work you’re not out of sight, out of mind, and that we are here always as your Federation for whatever help we can try and provide.
“As we look towards 2020, we hope that officer welfare becomes even more of a priority. We promise that the Federation will be working as hard as it can to protect our members’ wellbeing.
“The welfare survey is going to be online very soon and we will be looking to provide immediate support to officers who often have to attend some very difficult scenes on duty.
“We have been looking into a healthcare scheme for officers, and we are working on how we can support those colleagues who need to rely on food banks and charity. So for us, the priority next year will be officers’ needs. We will put them front and centre and support them wherever we can.”
