ESSEX police\u2019s Deputy Chief Constable has started her new job.<\/p>\n
Pippa Mills said she was \u2018very proud\u2019 to take over the role from departing DCC Matt Horne who has joined the Met Police.<\/p>\n

DCC Mills has been with Essex Police since 2017 after 20 years on the Met. She began her career on the beat around Westminster before working in CID.<\/p>\n
She took three years out to raise her family before returning to policing in East London and she has sat on the Command Teams for events such as the Queen\u2019s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics.<\/p>\n
She told the Essex Police website that she had \u2018learnt a lot\u2019 from her colleagues on the force.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very proud to have been selected as the Deputy Chief Constable for Essex Police. Since I transferred from the Met in 2017, I\u2019ve learnt a lot from the talented people around me and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know and understand the force,” she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to starting this new role, stepping up to lead some really key areas in policing and enabling me to gain an even greater understanding of the county of Essex, which is were I was born and grew up.<\/p>\n
Essex Chief Constable BJ Harrington said: \u201cI\u2019m really pleased to have Pippa as my deputy and look forward to continuing to work closely with her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am pleased that an existing member of the team has been appointed as this means that strong working relationships and the tremendous contribution of the whole team can go on from strength to strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
