ESSEX Police has been given six months to ensure that all officers are given training in crime recording, following an HM Inspectorate of Constabulary inspection.<\/p>\n
The force was examined along with other forces as part of the most extensive inspection HMIC has ever undertaken into crime data integrity.\u00a0 HMIC found an \u201ceffective approach to crime recording\u201d at the force and praised the \u201cstrong and committed chief officer leadership for crime data integrity\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, the report said: \u201cWithin six months, the force should establish and begin operation of an adequate system of training in crime recording for all police officers and police staff who are responsible for making crime-recording decisions, and ensure those who require such training receive it as soon as reasonably practicable.\u201d<\/p>\n
