THE Chairman of Essex Police Federation is continuing to meet the county\u2019s MPs to give his members \u201can ear for their concerns\u201d.<\/p>\n
Steve Taylor has met MPs including Rebecca Harris, Sir Simon Burns, Sir Alan Hazlehurst, Sir Eric Pickles and Will Quince since taking over the job in October.<\/p>\n
He said it was important that Essex Police Federation has \u201cpositive relations\u201d with local MPs to ensure that concerns raised by his members are heard by people who can \u201chelp bring the changes\u201d.<\/p>\n
Steve said: \u201cThose that I’ve spoken to by and large are broadly supportive of the police, of the efforts that we’ve already taken regarding Taser and body-worn video, but they’re also cautiously supportive of the introduction of spit guards. This is something which we are working towards and is a work in progress.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can best represent my colleagues, my members, by positive relations with decision makers and those with access to decision makers, and MPs are a prime example of that. Our realties with the MPs, getting them onside, highlighting our issues, gives us a voice, gives us an ear for our concerns and can help bring the changes.<\/p>\n
