POLICE officers deserve every penny of the 2.8% pay rise requested for them, the Chairman of Essex Police Federation has said.<\/p>\n
Steve Taylor noted that while those in the private sector are averaging more than 2% pay rises then police officers deserve as much. \u201cI think we\u2019re worth every percentile of that increase,\u201d said Steve.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Police Federation of England and Wales and the Superintendents’ Association have once again asked for a pay increase of 2.8% for all police officers.<\/p>\n
The Government have capped public sector pay increases at 1% but the two staff associations said that Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB) “must be free to draw their own conclusions based on the evidence presented.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steve said: \u201cI think we\u2019re worth every percentile of that increase and I think the amount of work that goes in to preparing that solution is well documented, it\u2019s well evidenced. The reasons for us only receiving a one percent pay rise after that submission would clearly be politically motivated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe case is made out for us to receive that increase on a factual basis, and so the political will of those in positions of power is the only thing that\u2019s preventing them from authorising it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe request for a 2.8% pay rise is not plucked out of the sky, it\u2019s evidenced and it\u2019s researched and it\u2019s documented. This is what we are worth, and it\u2019s not unreasonable for us to ask to be paid that amount.\u201d<\/p>\n
