<\/strong>TRIBUTES have been paid after the on duty death of Essex Police Inspector Mark Estall on Thursday January 5.<\/p>\n

Insp Estall, of the Force Support Unit, was on duty at our Boreham operational base when he was taken ill and despite the best efforts of his colleagues and those of the ambulance and air ambulance personnel who attended, he sadly died.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old officer had served with the force for nearly 27 years.<\/p>\n

Essex Police Federation Chairman Steve Taylor, who had worked closely with Mark earlier in his career, said \u201cthe people of Essex have lost a dedicated public servant and our colleagues have lost a good bloke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve added: \u201cOur thoughts are with Mark\u2019s family and friends as they contemplate the loss of such a giant and the hole he leaves in their lives. We also think about his close work colleagues whom now have to do without him and the bear hugs he was known for dishing out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile he may have gone, our fond memories and funny anecdotes involving him can never be taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chief Supt Rachel Nolan, head of Operational Policing Command based at Boreham, said: \u201cEssex Police has lost one of our great officers. Always professional, invariably cheerful and a highly skilled member of the force.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flags around the force were flown at half-mast today, Friday, January 6, as a mark of respect.<\/p>\n
