{"id":3665,"date":"2017-07-24T14:13:49","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T14:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=3665"},"modified":"2017-07-24T14:26:59","modified_gmt":"2017-07-24T14:26:59","slug":"police-officer-2017-pay-rise-delayed-until-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=3665","title":{"rendered":"Police officer 2017 pay rise delayed until September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE police officer pay rise award announcement for officers in England and Wales will not be made until September.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Federation of England and Wales and the Superintendents\u2019 Association have once again asked for a pay increase of 2.8% for all police officers.\u00a0Ordinarily the announcement for the rise would have been made by the Home Secretary in July \u2013 having considered a report from the Police Remuneration Review Body.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Steve White, Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said: \u201cAt a time when it\u2019s never been more critical to support our police service, this delay does little to enamour officers who already feel undervalued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Home Office has confirmed that the pay award will now not be announced until after Parliament returns from the summer recess on 5 September.<\/p>\n<p>While any pay increase will be backdated until the beginning of September, many officers will be left out of pocket for months after.<\/p>\n<p>Mr White added: \u201cChanges simply do not happen overnight. Forces need time to implement any changes in salary and many won\u2019t now see the benefits until closer to Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Government have capped public sector pay increases at 1% but the two staff associations said that Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB) \u201cmust be free to draw their own conclusions based on the evidence presented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE police officer pay rise award announcement for officers in England and Wales will not be made until September.
