THE permanent Police Memorial to fallen officer PC Dave Phillips, of Merseyside Police, was unveiled in October.<\/p>\n
The Memorial Service \u2013 which was attended by the Phillips family \u2013 saw Merseyside Police Chief Constable Andy Cooke and Prime Minister Theresa May revealed the stone in the historic Hamilton Square Gardens, Birkenhead.<\/p>\n
Pete Singleton, Chairman of Merseyside Police Federation said: \u201cDave Phillips was killed protecting the people he swore to serve, attempting to stop a dangerously driven stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis memorial is important not only for his family, friends and the wider Police family but also for the public of Wirral.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe memorial will be a focal point for the police and people of Wirral & Merseyside to remember Dave\u2019s bravery. It is a tangible way to recognise Dave\u2019s service and sacrifice. His bravery will never be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andy Cooke, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police said: \u201cI hope this memorial will ensure PC Dave Phillips\u2019s legacy lives on, as an officer who was the ultimate professional and committed to keeping the communities of the Wirral safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cDave represented everything that people want from their police service, and everyone at Merseyside Police is extremely proud to say that he was one of us.<\/p>\n

PC Phillips was killed on 5th October 2015 whilst trying to stop a stolen vehicle on the Wallasey Docks Link Road North, Merseyside.
