{"id":4483,"date":"2018-06-21T15:21:33","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T15:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=4483"},"modified":"2018-06-21T15:21:33","modified_gmt":"2018-06-21T15:21:33","slug":"college-on-the-offensive-to-defend-degrees-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=4483","title":{"rendered":"College on the offensive to defend degrees plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The College of Policing is on the offensive to promote its new recruitment requirement scheme for new constables.<\/p>\n<p>By 2020, three routes will be open to those interested in a career in policing as part of the scheme; an apprenticeship, \u2018Degree Holder Entry,\u2019 open for anyone with a degree in any subject, and a \u2018Pre-Join Degree\u2019 programme.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Both degree programmes include an element of on the job training.<\/p>\n<p>In a series of tweets, the college has said there has been \u2018a lot of confusion\u2019 around the Police Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) and has stressed that people don\u2019t need a degree to apply to be a constable.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s promised to publish more information over the next few weeks, while in another tweet it says that its approach has been \u2018wrongly interpreted\u2019 and that the scheme is about \u2018opening up policing to people\u2019, not blocking existing officers from progressing.<\/p>\n<p>The College\u2019s website says; \u201cPolice officers make difficult decisions which impact the public every day.
