{"id":5001,"date":"2019-01-28T14:14:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T14:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=5001"},"modified":"2019-01-28T14:14:36","modified_gmt":"2019-01-28T14:14:36","slug":"judicial-review-into-police-pay-decision-set-for-the-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essexfedfocus.co.uk\/?p=5001","title":{"rendered":"Judicial Review into police pay decision set for the Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A JUDICIAL Review into how last year\u2019s police pay review was handled has been given the go-ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The PFEW launched the legal proceedings after accusing the Government of failing to act on the police pay recommendations put forward by the PRRB. The application to lodge the review has now been ratified, with a hearing likely to take place this summer.<!--more--><span id=\"more-4516\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It will examine the lawfulness of how the pay award was decided, after the Home Secretary said the decision was the Government\u2019s and not made by him alone.<\/p>\n<p>PFEW Chairman John Apter said the decision to push for a judicial review had been an easy one to take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome this positive news and will now be working hard to prepare and plan for this important issue which is crucially important to our members,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur members do not have industrial rights so it\u2019s important they know we will stand up for them and fight their corner. It was only right that we legally challenged the process and the unfairness as doing nothing was simply not an option.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 award was the second year in a row that the Government has ignored the PRRB\u2019s pay recommendations.
