AN ESSEX Police officer has been thanked by a set of new parents for ensuring that they made it to hospital in time for the birth of their son.<\/p>\n
PC Matthew Turner of the Roads Policing Unit was flagged down by a man whilst on patrol in South Woodham Ferrers.<\/p>\n
The man turned out to be, James, who was driving his wife Sarah to the hospital after she had entered labour, but unfortunately they had become stuck in rush hour traffic.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the safe delivery of his son, new dad James said: \u201cWe can\u2019t thank Matthew enough for his help. Without his quick-thinking actions, we\u2019d have been stuck in the traffic for a while and would have needed to call an ambulance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think officers are underpraised for their good deeds and these few words aren\u2019t enough of a thank you to Matthew for his help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Matthew made the quick decision to escort the couple through the traffic to the hospital, even calling the maternity ward to make sure the staff were ready to receive Sarah when she arrived at Broomfield Hospital.<\/p>\n
Matthew said: \u201cI\u2019m just glad I was able to help. We deal with such a variety of incidents as police officers some of them rather sad, so it\u2019s great to be able to help this family in their time of need.\u201d<\/p>\n
