Essex Police Federation Open Meeting: Date confirmed
FEDERATION members will have the opportunity to quiz the new Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh during his first week at the force at Essex Joint Branch Board’s annual open meeting.
The meeting will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 8 May at the Anglia Ruskin University.
All federated members are invited to attend but need tickets.
The format has changed slightly following feedback from last year’s meeting. Mark Smith, chairman of Essex Police Federation, will offer a short introduction, followed by a ten-minute introduction from Mr Kavanagh.
Members will then be able to put their questions to the new chief constable and to Essex police and crime commissioner Nick Alston.
There will be no food or bar provided this time. Tickets will go on sale at £5 each but officers will receive a refund of £15 on the night, giving them £10 to spend on refreshments on the way home.
Mr Kavanagh, currently a deputy assistant commissioner at the Metropolitan Police Service, will replace Chief Constable Jim Barker-McCardle, who leaves the force on 3 May.
