Officers praised for “hard work, courage and commitment”

ESSEX Police Federation members have been praised for their “hard, with courage and commitment” – despite the pressure they are under.

In a Christmas message to members, Mark Smith (pictured) said the Federation “understands how hard officers work” and “how much they give up to be a police officer”.

“The advent season is upon us and as 2014 draws to a close, we would like to wish our members a happy and safe Christmas.

“Police officers across the county have worked exceedingly hard, with courage and commitment, against a backdrop of more pressure and fewer resources. We hope that you do get to spend some time with your families and loved ones over Christmas as we must not forget what support they give and what sacrifices they make so that we can do our jobs.

“Our thoughts are also with those of you that are unable to spend Christmas with your families as you work hard to keep our communities safe.

“Your Federation understands how hard you work and how much you give up to be a police officer. We will continue to work as hard as we possibly can to support you and your interests.

“We wish you a merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.”
