A merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year

POLICE officers have shown courage and commitment against a backdrop of more pressure, the Chairman of Essex Police Federation said looking back on 2015.

In a Christmas and New Year message to members, Mark Smith hopes that all officers have a chance to spend some festive time with their families who make sacrifices “so that we can do our jobs”.

“The advent season is upon us and as 2015 draws to a close I would like to wish all our members a very happy and safe Christmas.

“Police officers across the county have worked exceedingly hard, with courage and commitment, against a backdrop of more pressure, fewer resources and more cuts. I hope you do get to spend some time with your families and loved ones over the Christmas period, we must never forget what support they give and what sacrifices they make so that we can do our jobs.

“My thoughts are also with those of you that are unable to spend Christmas with your families and loved ones as you work hard to keep our communities safe.

“Your Federation understands how hard you work and how much you give up to be a police officer. I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can to support you and your interests.

“I wish you a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.”
