Off-duty officer saves man’s life
AN off-duty Essex officer has saved a man’s life.
PC Ian Risden was made aware of a man who had taken a suspected overdose in Southend and he managed to get access to the house where he found the man unresponsive.
Realising the man’s life was at risk, PC Risden rang the ambulance and commenced CPR.
Since the incident the man has made a full recovery and got in touch with the hero PC to thank him for his swift actions.
Pc Risden from Castle Point and Rochford Community Policing Team said: “Everyone thinks that we only deal with crime.
“Even though I was off duty, this is just one example of the things we deal with on a daily basis.
“I’m just glad he’s okay and can get the medical help he needs.”
